Rouen Ducks
$8.00
The Rouen (ruin) named after a town in France of the same name, is a large bird that resembles the wild Mallard in coloring. They are all temperature weather hardy and great foragers. Their color distinction makes them easy to sex when they mature. The Rouen is a calm, friendly bird and can be used for dual-purpose; having very flavorful meat, leaner than that of the Pekin and decent egg production. Our Rouen are the commercial line not the exhibition and cannot fly. All our ducks make great pets except the Mallard.

Rouen Ducks for Sale
The Rouen Duck (pronounced “ruin”) is a large, calm, and attractive heritage duck named after the town of Rouen in France. Closely resembling the wild Mallard in coloring, Rouens are admired for their rich plumage, hardy nature, and dependable performance in a wide range of climates.
Rouen ducks are excellent foragers and highly weather-hardy, thriving in both hot and cold environments. As they mature, their distinctive coloring makes them easy to sex, with drakes and hens clearly differentiated—an advantage for flock management.
This breed is well known as a dual-purpose duck, valued for both flavorful, lean meat and steady egg production. Compared to Pekins, Rouen meat is leaner and richer in flavor, making it popular among small farmers and homesteaders. Hens lay 100 to 150 large eggs per year, typically off-white or blue-green in color.
Our Rouen ducks are the commercial line, not the exhibition variety. As domestic ducks, they cannot fly, making them easier to manage than wild-type ducks. With their calm, friendly temperament, Rouens are also well suited as pet ducks, like all of our breeds except the Mallard.
Recognized by the American Poultry Association (APA) and classified as a heritage breed, Rouen ducks are an excellent choice for those seeking a hardy, attractive, and productive duck for eggs, meat, or companionship.
