Runners are from the orient where they are used to clean up the rice fields of rice waste, weeds and bugs. Along with their excellent foraging capabilities, they also are excellent layers. Their slender, upright stance makes them very mobile and fun to watch them “run”. This breed is domestic meaning it cannot fly. All our ducks make great pets except the Mallard.

Mallard Ducks
$8.25
It is believed that all domestic ducks except for the Muscovy are derived from the wild Mallard. They are a small flying duck that make good mothers, hatching and raising 1-2 batches of ducklings a year. They will start flying at about 10 weeks and take flight regularly by 16 weeks. Because of their ability to fly they are great for hunting training, but we do not recommend them as pets unless you have a fully enclosed enclosure or clip one or both wings. It takes 14-16 weeks for the male mallards’ head to turn green and fill in their distinguishing coloring.

White Pekin Ducks
$8.00
Pekins are the most common duck and a very good dual- purpose bird. They are the primary commercial meat duck breed in the United States and many other parts of the world. They are a fast-growing, large-framed, hardy breed that produces a carcass that is easier to clean than those of other ducks. Calm in nature, they have an excellent feed conversion ratio and are highly fertile. However, they are not very good natural sitters. An incubator is recommended for successful hatching. Pekins are domestic, meaning they cannot fly. All our ducks can be kept as pets except the Mallard.

Blue Swedish Ducks
$8.25
The Blue Swedish is a medium-weight, calm duck, similar in size to the Rouen, and is very hardy. They are fairly fast-growing, good foragers, and have good-quality meat. In breeding, it is tricky to maintain the blue coloration. If you breed a Blue Swedish to a Blue Swedish, half will stay blue, while a quarter will turn more black, and the other quarter a lighter silver gray. This breed is domestic, meaning it cannot fly. All our ducks make great pets except the Mallard.

Buff or Orpington Duck
$8.25
The Buff Orpington Duck is a large calm, multi-purpose bird. Some prefer the Buff as a roasting duck because the feathers are easier to pluck than the white Pekins. Like the Pekin, they put on weight fast and are of butchering size at 8 to 10 weeks of age. They are friendly, curious birds that are relatively quiet for a duck. They are all temperature adaptive and good foragers. They can be semi-broody and make fair mothers. This breed is domestic meaning it cannot fly. All our ducks make great pets except the Mallard.

Rouen Ducks
$8.00
The Rouen (ruin) named after a town in France of the same name, is a large bird that resembles the wild Mallard in coloring. They are all temperature weather hardy and great foragers. Their color distinction makes them easy to sex when they mature. The Rouen is a calm, friendly bird and can be used for dual-purpose; having very flavorful meat, leaner than that of the Pekin and decent egg production. Our Rouen are the commercial line not the exhibition and cannot fly. All our ducks make great pets except the Mallard.
Khaki Campbell Ducks
$8.00
The Khaki Campbell is known for its prolific egg laying and is one of the best for that purpose. They are a lightweight breed that adapt to all temperatures well and are active foragers. They tend to be non-broody but make good mothers when raising young. The Campbell is domestic meaning it cannot fly. All our ducks make great pets except the Mallard.
